Library Closing July 4th & Summer Hours Take Effect Next Week

In observance of Independence Day, the Pollard Library will be CLOSED Wednesday, July 4, 2012. Also, please note that next week the library will be open for Summer Hours. Which means this Saturday, June 30th is the last Saturday the library will be open until after Labor Day.

UPDATE: Memorial Day Weekend Hours

We just received word that the library will be closing at 3pm on Friday in observance of Memorial Day Holiday.

The Pollard Library will be closed next Monday, February 20th in observance of Presidents' Day.

The Library will be closed Monday, January 16th in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

This coming Monday, January 16, 2012 the library will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. You can learn more about the life and legacy of this great American Civil Rights Leader at your local library, or online at The Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change.

This Just In...Library closing at 3pm tomorrow (Wednesday November 23rd)

We just got word the library will be closing tomorrow, Wednesday, November 23rd at 3pm in advance of the Thanksgiving holiday. We are currently scheduled to be open normal hours (9am-5pm) on Friday and Saturday after the holiday.

In observance of Thanksgiving, the Pollard will be closed Thursday, November 24th. We will, however, be open from 9am-5pm, Friday and Saturday, November 25th & 26th.

Library Closed Friday November 11th - Veterans Day

In observance of Veterans Day, the Pollard Library will be closed Friday November 11th. We will reopen Saturday, November 12th at 9am.

Columbus Day Closure & Delayed Opening this Thursday

In observance of Columbus Day the Library will be closed Monday, October 10, 2011.

We would also like to remind you this Thursday is the first Thursday of the month which means our opening time will be delayed to 11AM to accommodate a morning staff meeting.

Labor Day Closure - end of Summer Hours

In observance of Labor Day, the library will be closed Monday, September 5th. Labor Day also marks the end of our Summer Hours. Meaning, the library will be open on Saturdays once again beginning Saturday, September 10th.

**ALSO, reminder the library will open late (11am) this Thursday, September 1st to accomidate our monthly staff meeting. We appreciate your understanding.**

Summer @ the Pollard - Closed Saturdays

This is to let you know that the library will be closed on Saturdays in from Independence Day through Labor Day. Meaning, next Saturday, June 25th will be the last Saturday we'll be open until September 10, 2011. Think of these Saturdays as the perfect opportunity for you to take it easy and get some Summer Reading done!

In observance of Memorial Day, the Library will be closed Monday, May 30, 2011. The library will reopen 9AM Tuesday, May 31, 2011.

Updates Updates

Don't forget tomorrow is the first Thursday of the month. Which means two things.

1) We will have a delayed opening. The library will not be open to the public until 11AM so the library staff can have meetings and trainings. This delayed opening will happen on the first Thursday of each month. We apologize for any inconvenience.

2) Non Fiction book clubbers will be gathering tomorrow night to discuss the latest non-fiction gem. Jill Lepore's A is for American is up for tomorrow's discussion. The initial reaction to this book has not been warm but that doesn't mean we won't have a great conversation.

Also, Saturday is the last Book Donation Drop Off for the Annual Friends of the Library booksale. Meaning this is the last chance to donate books from your unwieldy collections for a good cause. I know there is a big banner in front of the library advertising this sale but please know: EVERYTHING will be happening at the Lowell Senior Center, 276 Broadway. So, bring your gently loved tomes this Saturday, May 7th from 9am-12pm to the Senior Center. Then come back to the Senior Center Saturday May 21st to buy some more books you might not need but surely want. And members of the Friends are also invited to a special Friend's Preview sale (with light refreshments) Friday, May 20th from 5:30-7:30 at the Senior Center.

This Just In...Library will close at 3:00PM Today

We've just received word that City Hall and the Library will be closing at 3pm today in recognition of the holiday. The library will reopen tomorrow morning at 9am.

A message from the Library Director

With the permission of the City Manager, the Pollard Memorial Library will be opening to the public at 11:00AM on the 1st Thursday of the month, starting May 5, 2011.

The staff will be using this time before the delayed opening to hold monthly staff meetings and training. I regret the inconvenience to the public, but I believe this will facilitate staff communication on important library issues.
