Lowell Celebrates Kerouac! 's 90th Birthday (March 8-11, 2012)

We just got a delivery of the brochures for the Lowell Celebrates Kerouac! birthday weekend celebration (March 8-11, 2012). Jack would have been 90 this March 12, 2012, and LCK! is pulling out all the stops in tribute to our hometown hero. Author Event - Jay Atkinson - Tauvernier Street & Paradise Road - Thursday, June 23rd 7PM

Come see where the rubber meets the road for Metheun native Jay Atkinson. He'll be at the library next Thursday, June 23rd at 7pm to read from his latest book of short stories, Tauvernier Street, and his recent book Paradise Road: Jack Kerouac's Lost Highway and my Search for America. The latter is a compelling travelogue of his adventures criss-crossing America, taking inspiration from Kerouac's opus, On the Road, fifty years after its original publication.

Come celebrate what would have been Jack Kerouac's 89th Birthday by taking in Richard Lerner and Lewis MacAdams' affecting documentary "What Happened to Kerouac?" Saturday, March 12, 2011 @ 1PM.

This powerful documentary shows Jack Kerouac's unique creative process and rise to fame as a writer, while also shedding light on his turbulent personal life and the decline and tragically early death of Lowell's own King of the Beats. (FYI, the above clip is not from What Happened to Kerouac? so don't go looking for it.)
